Soul Food Sunday | Being Inspired

Happy Sunday guys!

You know when you look at the word inspiration a LOT comes to mind but the dictionary defines it this way:

inspiration

(Source)

I love this definition.

Eunice Elliott is a person that inspires me.

I’ve watched Eunice on WVTM Channel 13 for a while and just fell in love with her personality. In August of 2014 I met her at an event that I attended with a friend of mine.

Eunice Elliott

During this event she said some things that literally changed my life. She was happy and emotional and just “full” and it came across with every word that she said. She had just found out that she was on the cover of one of The University of Alabama magazines and she talked about how proud and honored she was that SHE was on it. As she said, “The little black girl from Bessemer.”

She talked about leaving her career in Atlanta because she wasn’t happy or doing what she wanted to do. I enjoyed listening to her talk about stopping to enjoy the moment where she was RIGHT THEN.

One thing in particular that I noticed, every single time she started to “speak” things, it happened. There is POWER in what you say. Good or not so good. Watch your words, even when you are playing around.

I’ve known this before but it was something about the way she was talking. It was how she watched her words become her reality that made me start speaking with purpose. I payed CLOSE attention to my thoughts. I made sure that my thoughts lined up with God’s word. I made sure my words were in line with God’s word.

It has made a HUGE difference in my life.

From the time I saw Eunice in August of 2014 until I saw her AGAIN this August 2015 my life has CHANGED.

Eunice Elliott

I tried to tell Eunice how she blessed me and inspired me so much last year but she didn’t want to cry her eyelashes off so I waited lol.

For ONE year, I was purposeful in my speech. Last year she said she changed her about page on Facebook to say “comedian” and now she’s a comedian! Like doing standup weekly and opening for some amazing folks. She is LIVING her dream.

I started changing some of the things I said about myself. I had to learn to let go of self doubt when things didn’t go as “I” had planned. I had to learn to stop having pity parties when things didn’t go as “I” had planned. I had to learn to BELIEVE what I knew in my heart was true about ME. I had to learn to BELIEVE what God’s Word said about me.

I HAD TO LEAN TO BELEIVE IN ADRIENNE.

It was because of Eunice that I smile EVERY SINGLE TIME I think of the accomplishments God has allowed me to make over the past year. It was what I took from her words in August of 2014, prayer and determination that brought me to where I am today.

Have I made mistakes? YEP. Have I been disappointed? YEP

BUT I NEVER GAVE UP.

It’s so important that you surround yourself with those who will encourage you when you can’t even encourage yourself. It’s important that you remind yourself DAILY of WHOSE you are. I know that “I” am a child of God and I can do ALL things through Him.

I want to thank Eunice for inspiring me. For lighting a fire under me to BELIEVE in myself. I struggled with insecurity for so long, it’s because of people like Eunice and prayer that insecurity is no longer a battle for me.

I hope that your path will cross with someone like Eunice. She has been a blessing to me.

Be Inspired. Live Inspired. Be an Essential Woman.

This is a powerful testimony which will bless any woman who reads it. God wants us to help others by sharing his word and his goodness. I am a firm believer in the power of words. We must speak positive energy … SPEAK LIFE . Thanks for sharing!!!!
